The collective opinion of both the parish Human Concerns Commission and St. Vincent de Paul Conference with approval of pastoral council is to support those communities who are in greatest need right now and recommend the following prioritized list of organizations:
St. Hyacinth's Emergency Food Pantry

The pantry and co-op are requesting cash donations at this time as a $1.00 donation can typically buy 10 lbs. of food. A five-dollar donation is more than enough to help us feed a typical family for more than a week. Checks can be made out directly to St. Hyacinth Food Pantry or to Lumen Christi with St. Hyacinth Food Pantry listed in the memo line. The greatest needs for the Pantry at this time are:
Household Size | Daily Cost |
1 | $52 |
2 | $57 |
3 | $62 |
4 | $67 |
5 | $72 |
6 | $124 |
7 | $129 |
The policy is one household per room, and at the current moment, there are 10 households (17 people) in the program. The number of households will more than likely be increased to accommodate 16 families. Family Promise does have the ability to put a larger family in the day center and put single people at the motel.
Estimated $560 for food/week
Estimate $3500 for lodging
=roughly $3800/week
=$5600/lodging for 16 families
We are called to serve the Body of Christ, both within our parish, and outside of it. Our ministry handbook has a list of outreach opportunities throughout the greater Milwaukee area under the headings of Human Concerns, Twinning Partners and Women's Circle of Faith.
