The fifth Sunday of Easter shows us the building of the Christian communities by Paul and Barnabas in the Acts of the Apostles. They proclaimed the Good News of Christ and returned many times to these communities to continue to build and strengthen them. Through prayer, fasting and working together the Church began to grow. Is this any different than the continued growth and stimulations needed to grow and sustain our vibrant parish? Many are new visitors and new parishioners to our parish, and we only grow through continued registration of new members and the gifts they bring to the table. Join our beautiful community and share your talents. We welcome you and encourage your active participation.
An active parish is vitalized by the gift of the Holy Spirit and the presence of our Lord. Open our bulletin or look at our Lumen Christi website and see the wonderful activities, worship and sacramental opportunities and a thriving Catholic school and Formation program. In Revelations today John saw a new heaven and a new earth. God dwells among us as he is present in our daily parish life. Take a good look at the new heaven we have created in our own community thanks to so many parishioners, staff, and clergy.
The Gospel of John sums it up best by proclaiming, “as I have loved you, so you also should love on another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples.” We are a Christian community who prayerfully continues to grow and build, and we need and appreciate the involvement of so many members of Lumen Christi Parish. Please join us as we continue to shape a bit of the Kingdom of God in our own community.
