“Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that had been made for the occasion. He opened the scroll so that all the people might see it and, as he opened it, all the people rose.”
In today’s reading, it was noted that Ezra was both a Priest and a Scribe. Have you ever noticed how often scribes are mentioned in the Bible? Their jobs were multifaceted (they copied, wrote, and edited documents) but mostly their job was to write things down, so that a record of events could be preserved. Today, Lumen Christi can do that for you, and the task is no less important. Every Catholic parish in the world keeps sacramental records. Catholic sacraments such as Baptism, First Eucharist, Confirmation, and Marriage, first require that the participants be formal members of the parish, and Lumen Christi will document and permanently retain a record for such events. These records pave the way for participating in other sacraments in the future!
If you are a member of Lumen Christi, the parish can provide you with important items such as a baptismal certificate, a record of sponsors, a confirmation certificate, or a marriage certificate for those who are formal parish members and held the event at Lumen Christi (St. James/St. Cecilia). Don’t be afraid to formally join the parish – the benefits are many – and we’d love to have you!
