This weekend, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, and in today’s Gospel reading, we hear the familiar story of Jesus being found in the temple. (As a parent of three small children, I have a deeper appreciation for the turmoil Mary and Joseph must have felt not knowing where Jesus was for two whole days!) “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house? Jesus’ response is a gentle reminder to Mary and Joseph that He belongs to God the Father. This gentle reminder is also applicable to us as we continue with the active membership campaign at Lumen Christi. This parish is our spiritual home because we are a family of believers. This family is committed to “sharing the love and light of Christ”, and when asked why they registered at Lumen Christi, one parishioner recently stated, “I wanted to feel a part of a community. We had a 2 year old son when we moved to Mequon and we wanted him to be part of a faith community.” Like this parishioner, I, too, am extremely grateful to this parish family for embracing my family and supporting each of us on our faith journey. If you are visiting this weekend or are looking to find a permanent spiritual home, join Lumen Christi!
