The Parish Leadership Team has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it evolves in our area. As small and large groups are getting together, we continue to urge everyone to use their best judgment, and stay home if they have COVID-19, flu, or cold-like symptoms. Mask wearing remains optional and the "socially distanced” seating section continues to be available at all Masses.
July 2021 Update
As a community we have journeyed together through the thick and thin of the Covid-19 pandemic. I want to thank you for the understanding, cooperation, support and patience, with which we have, as a community, faced and embraced the challenges of the time and its frequent changes and uncertainties – with the safety and community in mind. Thank you for being that one family sharing the love and light of Christ.
With the changes in CDC mask and social distancing mandates, due to the number of people vaccinated and the level of herd-immunity, Lumen Christi is also working with the best practices to provide for the twofold need for our community members – 1) a safe environment for worship and 2) a rebuilding opportunity for the community to come together within the nave or the main body of the church.
With this goal in mind, our Pastoral Council and Parish Leadership Team together with the staff and key volunteers are looking at opening every pew in the church for seating, starting the
1st weekend of July,
except the one section of pews on the southwest side. This section (left side of the church when facing the Altar) will continue to provide socially distanced seating. If you are not yet comfortable sitting closer to others, please feel free to use this area. And for any reason, if any of us prefers to wear a mask, kindly do so. Every pew provides 3 feet spacing between them.
This also means that, except for section 1 with socially distanced seating,
the congregation will process forward to the EM for the reception of Holy Communion.
Ministers of Holy Communion will wear a mask/face covering while distributing Communion.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support.
Fr. Matthew Jacob Pastor
May 2021 Update
With the CDC lifting the mandate on masks and social distancing, and in line with the new Archdiocesan guidelines, Lumen Christi Parish is making the wearing of masks/face coverings optional, starting this weekend - the Solemnity of Pentecost. If you are comfortable NOT wearing a mask/face covering - you do not need to wear one. If you are NOT comfortable 'not wearing' a mask/face covering, please do wear one. Please be respectful of each other’s choices and be responsible for yourself. Since masks/face coverings are optional, we will continue to use our social distancing protocol for a while. All our ministers will still be required to wear a mask when they are serving.
A special thank you to all our generous volunteers who helped out with the spraying/sanitizing of the Church and Halls after each service. Please continue to help us with the sanitizing through the end of May and starting June 1st, our parish staff will take care of the sanitizing of the Church and the Halls. Thank you for your understanding and support through these new changes.
