We at Lumen Christi are very blessed to be part of a vibrant, active parish with wonderful and meaningful liturgies and programs that enhance all of our lives. Integral to these efforts are the facilities and spaces we are blessed with. We are called to sustain and take good care of the spaces given to us by the Holy Father.
Care and upkeep is provided by staff and contractors but is enhanced by the very important Building and Grounds Committee with many additional volunteers. This committee evaluates maintenance needs, and supervise the care of our very special resource. A Property Condition Report was created in 2022 and this tool guides us with what can and should happen to exterior and interior spaces in the next 15 years.
Items we have worked in during the past 12 months include:
Replaced outdated playground equipment with safer modern pieces. Our children and many neighbors are having fun!
Installed a parishioner donated boiler at the school. This allows us to operate a tandem system ensuring that the building can always be up and running!
Improved drainage capabilities at many junctures of the campus. Very important with our ever-changing Wisconsin weather!
Enhanced our parking lot “green” islands with cobblestones for more attractive and safer driving!
Transformed portions of our north woods into an outdoor learning space with paths to enjoy nature!
And many volunteers who work on landscape upkeep to keep our gardens looking beautiful!
The Building and Grounds Committee meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 4:30 PM. We welcome new members and fresh ideas! If you are interested in lending your talent to this aspect of parish life, contact Bob Meyers, Chair of Building and Grounds Committee at (414) 639-6241.Parish
