There is much work that has been done and much work to do as we remodel Lumen Christi and it made sense to break this into these 3 phases:
PREPARE – we are cleaning out, rescheduling, moving spaces, and creatively storing items away in anticipation of the April 22 start date of our project. Plunkett Raysich Architects and many volunteers are concurrently working diligently to finalize the construction details of the plans. This is being translated into a detailed plan, engineering specifications are being prepared, vendors are being finalized and charts are being developed for what will happen during construction.
REBUILD – during the 8 months from April 22 until December 24 Berghammer Construction Company will be onsite making the dreams of a remodeled and updated church become a reality. We ask Parishioners for patience and flexibility as we move Mass times and many meeting locations to accommodate the work being done.
REDEDICATE – we pray for the opportunity to celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25 in our new worship space (with long overdue updated heating and cooling, sound and parking to name a few things), and we will rededicate our ministerial efforts to best serve the Parishioners of Lumen Christi.
We have raised slightly over $5 million towards Phase 2 of the Building Project. Many thanks to all those who have contributed. As a result of the dedicated stewardship of over 100 Parish volunteers serving on the Building Committee, Arts and Furnishings Committee and our Pastoral and Financial Councils, the overall project cost has been reduced to $6.8 million. We are pleased that this is less than originally estimated. A major milestone is set to occur on April 11 when our final plan will be presented to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Building Commission and, hopefully, gain approval to proceed.
