Three high school missionaries and two adult missionaries headed to Beaver Dam, WI for a 6-day mission trip July 16th-21st. We joined over 30 missionaries in the outreach program Love Begins Here, which is an Archdiocese-based initiative that seeks to serve those in need in our very own communities.
This week of service was extremely blessed with encountering so many amazing people, doing big and small things with great love, learning meaningful lessons from those we served and from the core team missionaries, doing all kinds of fun games and activities, spending significant time in prayer, having deep conversations, and overall being open and attentive to the person in front of us.
Here are some reflections from the Lumen Christi missionaries:
“On LBH I served many people and participated in a variety of tasks, created a stronger relationship with God, and set Faith-based goals that I plan on accomplishing, all while making new friends. I encountered God in our fellow missionaries who always made an effort to make everyone feel included. My favorite part was serving others, and prayer time because I really got to develop my way of prayer and create a deeper, more meaningful conversation with God.” - Hannah
“I grew my faith with the Lord, helped serve others, made new friends, and met other people from the community. I encountered God through prayer, confession, serving others, the people around me, the Rosary, and Mass. My favorite part of LBH was growing my faith and serving others while being with my close friends!” - Bella
“On LBH I really grew a deeper relationship with God. At the end of each day we would go into the church and just pray in silence for half an hour or more. It was really beautiful and allowed us to get comfortable having that conversation with God. I encountered God in the service work we did, the people we served, and my car group. It really is an amazing experience, although ‘amazing’ doesn’t really do any justice to how good it was - just like how God is good. My favorite part was the people. And actually not allowing phones on this trip because it allowed everyone to open up with one another, to socialize, and to talk about the Lord. I loved every single moment.” - Grace
We are all so thankful we had this incredible experience! Please join us for Hospitality after all Masses on August 12th & 13th to hear more about our trip and see more photos!
