The second part of the spring Hello, Neighbor series titled, "A Place at the Poll: Your Vote Matters" took place on April 6 at Holy Angels Parish in West Bend. The Hello, Neighbor series is part of the Tri-Parish Racial Justice Efforts between All Saints, Holy Angels, and Lumen Christi. Chief Judge Carl Ashley from the First Judicial District Court and historian Reggie Jackson from the Reddress Movement provided an informative overview on how particular groups of people, primarily African Americans, were denied access to the right to vote. They also shared how voting to support the common good is an act of love for one's neighbor, and they encouraged everyone to exercise this right during the upcoming election cycles.
The last in the series will be on Saturday, May 4 at 8:30 - 11:30 AM from All Saints Catholic Church (Milwaukee). Presenters will discuss the importance of local elections, and how their role as a clerk is to ensure a lawful election takes place. More details and registration available by clicking here.
