This weekend is the 6th Sunday in ordinary time and the Scriptures are once again filled with wonderful messages and reminders. What do we do with the readings when we read or hear them? How do we take them out into our very challenging world and bring the message to others?
Jeremiah, in the first reading, and Luke in the Gospel, have similar messages. Do we choose the curses and woes in life, or do we go for God and live a blessed life? Do we choose to be one in the Lord or choose the ways of the world? We come to Mass and the sacraments in our vibrant parish which gives us the tools to live for Him. To be one with Him does take spiritual discipline and building a relationship with God. God desires us to be sanctified. Sanctification means an intense narrowing of our earthly interest and an immense broadening of our interest in Christ.
All this from two Scripture readings? Yes, and God provides us how to get there in His Word, the sacraments, and our involvement in parish life. If we are sanctified and one in Him, how could we not carry Him out into our everyday life? His sanctified spiritual nature becomes part of us. Do you carry His oneness in you to better live? Blessed are we to have the tools to live a life of Christ. How are you using them and are you sharing them with others?
