To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. 1 Cor 12:7
What are your gifts? God has given us each gift (s), and it is up to us to recognize and share them with others. Jesus did not hide His gifts. He performed miracles like today’s Gospel reading at the wedding feast in Cana. He shared stories and taught the apostles and whoever would listen to Him.
We too are called to share our gifts. How do you do so? This parish is full of wonderful opportunities where you can share the gifts God has bestowed upon you. Teaching in Catholic Formation, becoming a member of St. Vincent de Paul, helping at the food pantry, leading a bible study, assisting the office with mailings, bringing the Eucharist to the homebound, or providing part of a meal for those in need. Opportunities abound!
Do you already give of your time and talents to other worthy organizations? Then consider becoming actively part of the liturgy…Eucharistic minister, lector, usher, choir member, greeter, altar server. You can enrich your own personal prayer by taking an active participatory role in the liturgy, while also enhancing our parish community.
Are you at home and unable to engage in active volunteerism? PRAY! Commit to regular intercessory prayer for the needs of the parish, for individuals listed in the bulletin, for the Holy Father’s monthly prayer intentions, etc. Intercessory prayer is also a tremendous gift that should not be forgotten.
To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another, the expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another, faith by the same Spirit; to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit; to another, mighty deeds; to another, prophecy; to another, discernment of spirits; to another, varieties of tongues; to another, interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes. 1 Cor 12:8-11
