Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! Your light has come….behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.
Happy Parish Feast Day! Lumen Christi, which means light of Christ, celebrates our parish feast day on the Epiphany of the Lord, which is when the Magi bring their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to baby Jesus. Our parish celebrates this feast day by lighting our dedication candles, having a live nativity, and hosting activities and fellowship for parishioners of all ages. It truly is a wonderful way to cap off the Christmas season! It is of great theological importance too because the word epiphany comes from the Greek word epiphaneia meaning “to manifest, appear, or make known” where we celebrate Jesus’ Incarnation or His manifestation in the world as both human and divine. You might be asking how this all fits into the parish’s Active Membership Campaign? First off, we make ourselves known by registering at the parish, and a new member recently shared that by registering at the parish, “it felt more like joining and less like just showing up.” Additionally, Lumen Christi has over 100+ volunteer ministries. There is something for everyone, even for our parishioners who are homebound, who could pray regularly for your fellow parishioners who are listed in the bulletin. As your family celebrates Epiphany, take some time to ask yourselves what gifts are you offering to Jesus?
