Baptism

Overview

Baptism, the first sacrament of initiation, marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship to Jesus Christ. At Lumen Christi Catholic Church, we joyfully welcome children into our faith community. It is our hope that the faith of parents will be deepened as they bring their children to the font to become new members of the Catholic Christian community. We pledge to you our ongoing prayers and support.

Scheduling a Baptism

Please contact our Baptism Coordinator, Kathy Shields, to register for your child’s baptism, which are scheduled as registrations are received. Baptisms are typically scheduled for Saturdays or Sundays, depending on the parish liturgical calendar. It is recommended that you arrange for your child’s baptism two to three months ahead of time.

Baptism preparation is offered for those seeking baptism for a child. Topics include the theology of and Rite of Baptism, as well as the spirituality of family life. Meetings are held on an individual basis and can be arranged by contacting Kathy Shields.
